A workshop on urban developments by students of Harvard University and Kyushu University.

Life styles of a future city were discussed as an example of Hakozaki campus of Kyushu University in Fukuoka city.                               A workshop on urban developments by students of Harvard University and Kyushu University.

A workshop on urban developments by students of Harvard University and Kyushu University was held on Sept. 12th(Mon) through 16th(Fri) 2016.

Fukuoka city and Kyushu University have started "The Fukuoka Smart East Project" in the eastern area of the city such as Hakozaki campus of Kyushu University and the Island City as a leading edge urban development project utilizing ICT technologies.
The workshop was held as part of the project to form a global network and advertize a possibility of Fukuoka city, mainly Hakozaki area, through proposals and interaction of the students.

On Sept. 16th (Fri), the last day of the workshop,at Kyushu University Hakozaki campus presentations on the urban developments of Hakozaki area were made by groups which consisted of students from both universities.

At first Dr.Takeru Sakai from Kyushu University and Dr.Toshiko Mori from Harvard University made greetings, followed by presentations by 11 groups of the students from both universities.
They made proposals from view points of art, festival, food, health and medicine, international relations, which are of interest.

The proposals will be brushed up further and reported by the students in the "Fukuoka Next Urban Innovation Forum" planned on November 11th 2016,which Kyushu University is also supporting.

At the end of the workshop Mr. Yoichi Korehisa, project leader of Kyushu University COI, and Dr. Prasanna, associate professor of Kyushu University expressed gratitudes and rising hopes for the proposals.
In the forum planned in November further discussions are expected by various speakers as well as the students.
Kyushu University COI will also take part in this activity.
