On Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 at Research Facilities for Co-Evolutional Social Systems in Kyushu University, the Information Device Unit (Professor Chihaya Adachi, Academic Researcher Sachiko Higashikawa) and Science Technology Innovation Policies Unit (Professor Akiya Nagata, Academic Researcher Yoshimasa Nishigama) co-sponsored a workshop entitled “Develop a Gadget Better Than the Apple Watch: - From Concept to reality: Developing a must-have OLEDs gadget surpassing the Apple watch.”

The event’s objective was to generate ideas on near-future application which utilizes organic EL technology through design thinking method. 21 people from inside/outside the university attended the workshop.

After Professor Chihaya Adachi introduced and explained technology related to organic electroluminescence, Professor Akiya Nagata facilitated the workshop to discuss specific products/services that organic EL technology applies to, and many ideas came up.
Based on discussion with other units, the Science Technology Innovation Policies Unit will continue offering support as needed for practical implementation.
