[Report] Kyushu University COI Selected for the Fukuoka City Full Support Verification Test Project

Providing support for those with transportation barriers at transport hubs, and building an environment to analyze the flow of people to generate prosperity in shopping areas

To promote implementation of city services related to “safety and security” and “generating prosperity” in towns, the ICT Group suggested flow analysis verification tests using video footage of public space. Two verification tests were selected in the “Fukuoka City Full Support Verification Test Project.”

In the verification test “building and verifying monitoring service in urban space,” AI image analysis technology detects transportation barriers (wheelchair, white cane, baby stroller, etc.) from video images acquired at the roundabout in front of Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station, and sends an automated notification. We will determine its feasibility to see if a support personnel can then offer prompt support.

In the verification test “generating prosperity of the town by utilizing ICT,” AI image analysis technology generates “people flow data with parameters” from images acquired in shopping areas, etc.

Adding data such as weather or events will further assist in analyzing the impact of various factors to sales. We will perform feasibility verifications so that it may contribute to the post-pandemic economic recovery in local communities.
